I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into
prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and
trying to lift himself up by the handle.

What is TP Free Agents (TPFA)? T stands for Tea. P stands for Party. And of course Free
is spelled out.

Why? Like many of our friends, neighbors and fellow Americans we were about as aggravated
as we could be with the direction the newly elected president along with his congressional
comrades were taking our country. Spending like a bunch of drunken Kennedy's. Ignoring
the Constitution at every turn and trampling on anyone that didn't agree with their
socialist ways of doing things in a very thuggish, corrupt manner. We were kind of
chomping at the bit looking for an avenue for our dissatisfaction with the situation.

We found out, WE ARE NOT ALONE!

first tax tea party Pic 11April09 April 11 2009 Tax Tea Party. Goshen IN

Well, back in early spring 2009 we heard about a group that was going to have a Tea Party on the Saturday prior to Tax Day April 15th in Goshen IN. Preceding the Tea Party they were having sign making sessions on the last couple Saturdaysleading up to the big event. My wife and granddaughter attended these sign making sessions to help out. This group is the Elkhart County Tea Party Patriots.

As the big day was approaching we heard about another group that was going to have a Tea
Party on tax day in the afternoon, April 15th. Great, we can go to that one too! So we
made our own signs and showed up at that Saturday Tea Party. It was great to find there
were a couple hundred other people that felt the same way we did about the politics of the
day. And the people speaking were right on the money with the mood of the crowd.

Then on tax day we were in downtown Elkhart for our second Tea Party. Something was wrong.
Only about 45 people showed up. After a short while we found out the afternoon party was
cancelled, but there would be a replacement at 5 PM in the evening down by the post office.
We stayed anyway for a couple hours and proudly showed our signs to all that drove up or
down the street. Waving back to those that beeped and waved their agreement with us. We
were few, but we were determined and proud to do our very small part for the betterment of
the country. We were even nice to the MSNBC reporter that took our pictures and asked
several questions. I don't know what he ever did with that interviewing, but I expect it
wasn't what they would want and probably was ignored and placed in the trash bin.

5 PM that evening we were participating in our third Tea Party we attended that tax
season. This was the biggest of them all with hundreds of people and more coming and going
all the time. It was great listening to the speakers at the microphone, the patriotic music, the
beeping and waving to us from the passing motorists. Some went and found a parking spot
and joined us.

This last Tea Party was put on by a group called Michiana 912. I found out they'd be
meeting at a local mall and so I showed up at the meetings. It was obvious that early on
many people at the meetings wanted to be chiefs. Since I've been a chief in many different
aspects of my life, I decided I would be a warrior and do whatever I could to further
the cause. Ever since then we've done exactly that, helped out in any way we could. Always
there when asked and showed up and volunteered when not asked. Our way to serve. We've
also taken advantage of every opportunity to learn more about politics, campaigns, the
Constitution and any other related subject.

We've worked and done our part putting on fund raisers, candidate forums, campaign work
including canvassing, making phone calls and more. Our Michiana 912 group brought Glenn
Beck to Trine University Angola IN and we worked it all day as part of the event staff.
Even worked as a judge during a primary election.

We've learned volumes of stuff we didn't know by attending canvassing training, a
variety of different Constitution trainings by different speakers and teachers including
the NCCS The Making Of America Seminar and Rod McBain Constitutional Training. Other
political campaign topic trainings and all topped off with a special intensive three 12 hour days
Leadership Institute training I attended followed up by an additional 2 day Leadership Institute
workshop at Hillsdale college a couple months later. This is aside from numerous books read
and online self education and research.

The more you know, the more you understand and the more you can assist others and help
them understand what's going on.

But do you know what I'm most proud of? Being a body! Being counted. Being a person
showing up at events.
Small local events, regional or statewide events, to national gatherings of the masses
like 9/12/09 Washington DC Rally, and 8/28/2010 Restoring Honor in Washington DC. .

Whether it's just showing up at meetings for one of the local groups especially when
speakers or special guests or candidates are invited. Or when a traveling group comes to
the area, be it large or small in importance. If they can come here, I can get off my
butt and show up. Susan B Anthony Right To life, Americans for Prosperity twice, Hot Air,

Back to our story....

We've attended meetings on local issues and we also attended one of those big crowded
congressman's town hall meetings and we've also demonstrated outside our congressman's
office a few times. When our senator was Evan Bayh his office got the special treatment on
the healthcare issue. Also we've taken our signs and let our voices be heard when Obama
has visited the area a couple times. His visit to Wakarusa was especially fun as we had
people come from over 100 miles away at their own expense to build a very large crowd to
let our voices be heard and to overwhelm the 6 busses that that were shipped in from St.
Louis, Chicago, Gary In and Toledo Ohio. These were paid demonstrators, as one told my
wife; "With the economy down it is the only thing that's getting his bills paid". This made
for a raucous atmosphere where the 2 groups butted up against each other. Chanting back
and forth. They included many SEIU and Steel Workers union people but there weren't any
troubling episodes or anything like that. Just good clean fun. Besides we outnumbered
them by about 3 to 1.

It works! Showing up instead of sitting on your butt complaining. Making the effort. Take
my word for it, your not missing much on TV. Live participation is the best thing you can
do for your family, your friends, your country and yourself. Doing instead of watching!

Our most special time so far?

Walking down Pennsylvania avenue on 9/12/09 was an experience for a lifetime. Just being
there at the capital at the end of the road with all those hundreds of thousands of
wonderful people was an experience you just can't get in any way but being there. It
didn't matter where you were in the crowd, close to the stage, around the pond, or closer
to the Washington monument. It was exhilarating and so grand. It was indescribably
contenting and enthusing at the same time. The weather, the people, the atmosphere. GOD
was truly there with us that glorious day.

One more way to participate; Buy books and go to movies and then buy the movies when they
become available. With 90% of all forms of media against us it's important to support those
Expelled, Atlas Shrugged part 1, and 2016. We've purchased The Tea Party Movie and Ben Steins
Expelled and Ayn Rands Atlas Shrugged 1, the Agenda Movie and others and will continue to
support those that provide media that's supporitive to our cause.

Best thing you can do? Support these people and if possible take some young people to see
these movies, or share a book with them after you've read it.

OKAY, so what's all this got to do with TPFA?

Well Like I said we joined the Michiana 912 group and the membership grew. Then some of
the members in the next county split off and became the St. Joe County Tea Party Patriots.
Then as the 2010 election drew near another group formed from the original that wanted to
endorse candidates and be more active in the election process. This group is called
Tea-MAC. MAC standing for Michiana Action Coalition.

So now what started as one big group is 3 smaller groups. Some of us participate in
functions held by 2 or more of the groups, but a lot of people just gravitated to the
single one that suits them the best. For my wife and I we find benefit with all 3 and
attend meetings and some functions that any of them may hold. Aside from that we do things
on our own and attend functions held by other groups in the region also. Just like that
first tea party we attended on a Saturday was sponsored by the Elkhart County Tea Party
Patriots and we've attended the 2nd and 3rd versions they've held on pre tax day Saturdays.

Sometimes we help out at functions and many times we are just bodies to add to the count.
And that count is important! So what we are is participants! Numbers attract press and the
attention of the politicians. Each and every person does matter.

WHO are TPFA members?

Well it's just my wife Cheri, our kids and grandkids on occasion and myself. It's not another
tea party group in the usual sense. There isn't a membership other than us, though anyone
can be a TP Free Agent. There aren't any formal meetings, no money needs to be donated
for anything.
Basically we show up at as many events taking place in the Tea Party world as we can.
Whether it be regularly scheduled meetings by Tea Party/912/Patriot Groups, or special
events, or appearances involving special speakers, candidates, politicians, educators,
demonstrations, campaign helping, etc.. If we feel we should be there and can attend,
we go.

So this isn't a group looking for members. It's more of a fun thing. With so many groups
now, we have to prioritize. Just like you we can't be everywhere for every event by every
group. So we try to add to the numbers for special speakers and such. TP Free Agents
started as kind of a personal joke about all the local group splits and now it is a description
of us and what we do. it fits.

The idea here is to encourage fellow patriots to showing up at events put on, or promoted
by fellow groups in their area. If nothing else to try to add to the numbers at special events
our associates work hard to put on. Numbers of participants by themselves can quite often
determine the success or failure of an event. Be a member of one or more groups, or member
to none. Just so you show up to events that are trying to make a difference.

Numbers matter! Successful events that produce enough participants attract appearances by
prominent people, educators and speakers.

Just as a demonstration with 2 people showing up on the street in front of a politicians
office may just bring a giggle from them. When a 100 or a 1,000, or 10,000 demonstrators
show up on the street, that will grab their attention in a big way. Or maybe an educator
on a topic of interest is asked to come to your area to put on a course perhaps charging a
nominal fee. Enough participation will encourage them to return in the future. We never
stop learning. We all benefit from what we learn.

We understand we'll experience wins and losses, successes and failures. We want a
government that is run strictly by what's written in the Constitution and spends no more
than it takes in
. We expect this will take the rest of our lives and we're committed to
do whatever we can to bring about the real changes back to what the founders of our great
country envisioned. We'll show up and do what we can as long as we can.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it! If you read this far all I can say is you're a
real trooper. Have fun! Do something even if it's just firing off an email now and then to
a politician. Do what you can and remember all you do is appreciated by us the TP Free

The mighty TPFA force: John & Cheri Evans plus any or all of our kids and grandkids.

All the best for you, John

PS. Come on! Get off that butt and get out there! Have some fun and meet some great
people. Make a difference! If you have them, your children and grandchildren need you.
Your country needs you now! Stand up and be counted.

"Don't let what you can't do interfere with what you can do." John Wooden

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual - or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country." Samuel Adams

The Warrior Song - Hard Corps

The eagle born to those who pledged their lives and sacred honor was smiled upon by God and freed from chains and iron collar. He is held aloft on unity and by history revered; for preserving peace through strength his wings now reach across two hundred years. But for each of those and one year more, God has smiled upon The Corps, from the Barbary Coast to the Eastern Sand, by sword, by gun, or by bare hand. So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged.

I am a Marine on the beach, I'm a killiní machine, with a need to bleed you when the light goes green, best believe, Iím in a zone to be, from my Yin to my Yang to my Yang Tze. Put a grin on my chin, come to me, Ďcuz Iíll win, Iím one-of-a-kind and Iíll bring death to the place youíre about to be: another river of blood runniní under my feet. Forged in a fire lit long ago, stand next to me, youíll never stand alone. Iím last to leave, but the first to go, Hard Corps is the only way I know. I feed on the fear of the devil inside of the enemy faces in my sights: aim with the hand, shoot with the mind, kill with a heart like arctic ice

I am a Devil-Dog Iím marching on, I am a warrior and this is my song

I bask in the glow of the rising war, lay waste to the ground of an enemy shore, wade through the blood spilled on the floor, and if another one stands Iíll kill some more. Bullet in the breech and a fire in me, like a cigarette thrown to gasoline, if death donít bring you fear then death ain't brought by no Marine. Come to the nightmare, come to me, deep down in the dark where the devil be, in the maw with the jaws and the razor teeth, where the brimstone burns and the angel weeps. Call to the gods if I cross your path and my silhouette hangs like a body bag; hope is a moment now long past, the shadow of death is the one I cast.

I am a Devil-Dog Iím marching on, I am a warrior and this is my song
Hell has no demon I won't overcome, I am a warrior and this is my song

Now I live lean and I mean to inflict the grief, and the least of me's still out of your reach. The killing machineís gonna do the deed, until the river runs dry and my last breath leaves. Chin in the air with a head held high, Iíll stand in the path of the enemy line. Feel no fear, know my pride: for God and Country Iíll end your life.

I am a Devil-Dog, Iím marching on, I am a warrior and this is my song
Hell has no demon I won't overcome, I am a warrior and this is my song
I made the devil himself turn and run, I am a warrior and this is my song
Into the fire I will keep marchin' on, Oorah, Marine Corps, Get Some...

The Star Spangled Banner Lyrics
By Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
